La Concha

"La Concha" translates to "shell." In this project, I explore the comparisons and expectations placed on Latina beauty. I ask: what does it truly mean to be a beautiful Latina in the United States? Through my work, I examine how stereotypes restrict and define us. How they attempt to flatten the rich diversity of our features. Our hair, our noses, our mouths, our face shapes. Each is unique, each tells a story. This project is about reclaiming and celebrating that individuality, beyond ideals imposed on us. Together, like shells, we protect and guide one another, reminding the world that our beauty is rooted in our diversity.
